The best way is to take a train to Rotterdam Lombardijen station. This station is easily accessible from major cities in The Netherlands. Get off at Ridderkerk, and change for a smaller ferry to Kinderdijk, which pier is around 1km from the windmills.A single trip should take you around 45 minutes to an hour, depending your point of departure and waiting time at Ridderkerk. Note that the Ridderkerk-Kinderdijk ferry service takes a long lunch break - from 10 a.m. to noon.
